Collaboration With via

There has been a lot of talk about on-line collaboration lately especially due to the impending release of Google Wave. This got us at Radix thinking about the various ways you can currently collaborate on-line with our via applications and where Google Wave could enhance it.
For the majority of companies in the relocation industry, the main method of collaborating and communicating is email. But as most destination, immigration, and goods movement service providers experience, assignment managers continue to ask for more visibility over their transfers. Trying to provide all this information through email often results in an email system overload. We’ve all tried to attach high def photos of a property or have scanned personal documents for a family of 5. It just doesn’t work. Email attachment size and speed limitations of make this nearly impossible to do. This gave us the idea to create several features that make it possible to collaborate through our application interface and which provide the vital information and communication needed by Assignment Managers. Here’s a short list of our collaboration techniques:
1.Customer Portal- Makes it possible for Assignees and Assignee Managers to obtain up to date information on their move through a web based portal.
2.Document Tracking- Have all of the Assignees documents available through a password protected web based file manager.
3.Shared Email Filing- How many times have you had to look for an email from a customer, only to find out it was sent to a coworker who is out of the office? We’ve implemented an easier system that everybody can attach all emails related to a move in the same place and have access to them.
4.End To End Visibility- In via you can provide your Assignment Manager with a list of all statuses related to a move, when they are completed, along with any comments related to the status.
5.Multiple Participants- When moving multiple Assignees or groups of Assignees there are often multiple people involved. We provide them all with access to the information they need including whole group reports.
The main collaboration tool we currently do not employ in our application is the chat feature. Skype, Messenger, and GoogleTalk are tools that are used by many businesses and can greatly improve communication and responsiveness. Our next tool may include a way to keep track of chats.
